Your
Resource for Improving Performance, Productivity,
and Controlling Expenditures
Paxar’s
commitment to excellence and reliability is
evident in the unique radio frequency identification
testing services we offer, free of charge,
to you, our customer. Our extensive RFID Systems
Laboratory, housed within the Miamisburg facility,
provides you with a full range of pertinent
data on which to base your RFID decisions.

A portion of our 1200
square foot laboratory is dedicated to a precision
anechoic chamber that is shielded from external
noise and electromagnetic interference, affording
the most dependable, pristine, and replicable
RFID measurements. Inside the chamber, readability
analysis of your RFID-tagged products reveals
information that could potentially save you
both labor costs and penalty charge-backs
resulting from inaccurate reads.
Specific measurements
being recorded in the chamber are:
- Optimum label positioning for the strongest
read
- Read strength at various distances
- Inlay comparisons
- Customer-specific investigations based
on label preferences
The properties of certain foils, liquids,
foods, or even packaging methods, can interfere
with the radio frequency signals, making the
tests we conduct in our laboratory invaluable
to your company’s bottom line. Correctly positioning
the RFID label on the box or crate and
using the optimal inlay are critical to achieving
precise readings, which could translate into
hundreds of thousands of dollars in labor
savings when accuracy increases by a mere
half percent.
At the conclusion of the testing process,
a comprehensive report is compiled for your
benefit, delineating the reading comparisons
and making recommendations based on the findings.
The full-color report, which features photographs
of various label orientations and statistical
graphs of read ranges, is then presented to
you for discussion.
Paxar
provides further support for those of you
who are new to RFID and are seeking advice
on reader location and set-up scenarios for
your facilities. Our laboratory includes a
simulated warehouse environment which contains
10-foot portals as well as a 600-feet-per-minute
powered, conveyor portal system, allowing
us to test your products in a real-world application
that relates directly to your distribution
process. Testing can be conducted with a full range of readers from Alien®, Sirit®, Impinj®, ThingMagic®, and more.
